Many of you know, I was diagnosed sarcoma cancer not that long ago. It has been quite the journey with both ups and downs but God has provided for me every step of the way. In fact, one way He provided for me was connecting me with A Shelter for Cancer Families (ASCF). This organization provided me and my loved ones with an apartment all my own for the duration of my treatment in Houston, Texas.
The reality is. for many patients like me (especially those with rare cancers such as sarcoma), Houston’s high volume of cancer specialists offer our only hope. This year, more than a hundred thousand people will seek cancer treatment in Houston and 75% of them like me will be coming from outside of the Houston area and will need a place to stay. For many, housing is a huge barrier to getting the care needed.
A Shelter Cancer Families (ASCF) has been a tremendous blessing for me and my family. Without the organization's support, I am not sure if my return to health would have been possible. Not only did ASCF provide me with a "home away from home" when I needed it most, they offered me prayers, love, support and friendship. ASCF provides more than housing. They provided me with a second chance and I want to use that chance to "pay it forward to the patients and families who will follow in my footsteps.
I will be forever grateful to ASCF for the role the organization and its volunteers played in my journey to health. Please help me to pay it forward by making a donation today and help me to ensure ASCF can continue to expand its ministry in serving cancer families.
