SEPTEMBER IS CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

At A Shelter for Cancer Families, we have had many children walk through our doors and into our hearts.  They are just some of the roughly 15,870 children who will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States this year alone.  We have celebrated with them, mourned with them, embraced them and supported them.  So, September is an especially important month to us.

Throughout our Childhood Cancer Awareness Campaign, HEARTS OF GOLD we acknowledge and lift up those little hearts with the courage and resilience to fight a battle bigger than themselves.  We also acknowledge and lift up the hearts of their loved ones who face the unknown with hope, grace and strength.  To us, they are the true embodiment of HEARTS OF GOLD.

We ask your help in honoring the fighters among us, those who are no longer with us, and those who will battle cancer in the future.  Together, we hope to “shine a light on childhood cancer”!

There are a variety of ways to join our HEARTS OF GOLD campaign throughout September.
  1. Awareness Yard Sign - Raise awareness and be a part of making your neighborhood GOLDEN!
  2. Gold Stroll - Help raise money for the cause by running, walking, skipping, scooting or strolling anytime throughout the month of September on a specific day or over several days.  Stroll alone or with a team and participate in raising awareness along the way!  Gold Stroll shirts, medals and socks are also available by visiting this link.
  3. Fund the Mission - Own a business or want to support our mission in a larger way? Consider becoming a Champion, an Advocate, a Partner, a Sustainer, or a Friend. Your contribution will help us provide specific services and celebrations for the families we serve.
  4. Caped Cancer Crusader -  We love our super heroes!  Honor a special Caped Cancer Crusader in YOUR life and they will be presented with a handmade custom ASCF Cancer Crusader cape.
  5. Heart of Gold Donation - Have a HEART OF GOLD and want to raise awareness and support those families served by ASCF.
We appreciate your participation and support as we seek to further our mission and raise awareness of childhood cancer and the lives impacted by it.

Let’s all shine bright with HEARTS OF GOLD in September!
