As a direct result of developments involving the Coronavirus (COVID-19), A Shelter for Cancer Families (ASCF) wants to make you aware of the steps we are taking to ensure your health and safety. We are monitoring recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and our Texas Medical Center (TMC) area hospitals. In the event of widespread disease, we will follow their recommendations. We have increased the frequency of disinfecting commonly used surfaces at our Drake office and have postponed all ASCF onsite gatherings until further notice.
We are strongly urging any person who has traveled internationally or encountered someone who is presumed to have COVID-19 to self-quarantine at home for 14 days. If you develop a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, we ask that you delay any plans you may have to come to A Shelter for Cancer Families as the families whom we serve are “at higher risk” due to compromised immune systems. If you have a question as to whether or not you should come to ASCF, please call 713-497-5365 so that we may ask you a few screening questions.
IF IT IS POSSIBLE THAT YOU MAY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED, we ask that you delay your visit to our ASCF residences until after 14 days have passed to ensure that you have not contracted the illness.
Coronavirus symptoms may include fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, and symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure.
Please know that the health and safety of your families and ours are of greatest importance to each of us at A Shelter for Cancer Families. We thank you in advance for helping us to ensure a healthy environment for all.
